Let Me Introduce Myself

Hi there! I'm so glad you've stumbled upon this page. It's truly good to have you here. Why? Because if you're here we probably have something in common. Are you a quilter as well? Are you an old soul too? Do you also feel a bit stuck in between wanting to be a modern go-getter, hard working, never stopping girl who's fighting for women's rights and justice in the world but at the same time you want to wear puffed sleeves, get lost in a book, spend some baking or sewing or just doing anything at all that's a bit creative? If that's you in even the tiniest bit, then let me tell you, you've come to the right place.

Really, that's where the name "Vintagely Modern" comes from - it's that vintage nod in our modern world and a desire to attempt to have one foot in each world.

My name is Kim and I'm a quilter, sewer, garment maker, painter, baker, cross stitcher, needlepointer, knitter, crocheter about anything else crafty you can think of that likely ends in "er." I have been a fervent fan of anything even slightly vintage, Victorian, Romantic or cottagecore like for as long as I can remember. Even now, I am always drawn back to classic works of literature such as the Anne of Green Gables books, "The Secret Garden", and anything by Jane Austen.

I've had a dream for about ten years now to have a little sewing pattern business and this year, 2025, decided to take the leap and go for it. I'm glad you've stumbled upon my site and I hope it inspires you to create, to bring beauty to the world around you, and to find some peace and joy in the everyday.

Some things you should know about me:

  • I LOVE color! I'm instantly drawn to anything with rich, vibrant color though. I also love pattern and design, especially anything with florals or geometrics.
  • If every top I owned had puffed sleeves, my life would be just about complete.
  • I was born in the US but have now lived in the UK for nine years. My family says I have adopted an English accent but all my Brit friends say I definitely still sound American.
  • I love tea (and did even before I moved to the UK!). My hands down favorite company is Bird & Blend
  • Until now, my favorite job ever was working for Quilting Adventures. It's during my time at QA that I really got into quilting and discovered how many amazingly creative fabric and quilt pattern designers there are out there as well as the beauty of having a quilty community.
  • I truly believe that you can find creative inspiration anywhere: a lot of my quilt patterns are inspired by something I've seen in normal, daily life.
  • My favorite fabric designers are Kate Spain, Joel Dewberry, Anna Maria Parry, Tula Pink, and Lella Boutique.
